Confusion in class

 In class today 4/5/12 I heard some confusion.  If the woman in the video was using the correct terminology when she said she castrated herself then what she did was to remove her testicles, this is what is meant by the term castration. The standard method of performing this surgery is to open the scrotal sack and sever the spermatic cord and remove the testes. Unfortunately there appeared to be persons in the class that thought that the operation she performed was a penile amputation.  Again I am assuming that the woman in the video had the correct terminology for her operation

Probably not all that important but maybe it is.
